Do you have an Estate Plan for Your Google Account?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]What is one Free thing you can do today to start your Estate Plan?

  1. Select your Google Inactive Account Manager(s).

You have two options in Google for what happens if you pass away or become inactive.

First, you can elect to have your Google Account deleted. Be aware that this affects all products that are associated with that account (e.g., Utube, AdSense, Gmail), and affect each product differently. You can review the data associated with your account on the Google Dashboard. If you use Gmail with your account, you’ll no longer be able to access that email. You’ll also be unable to reuse your Gmail username.

Second, you can select an Inactive Account Manager or Managers that if you pass away or away from your account you can share parts of your account data or notify someone if you’ve been inactive for a pre-selected period of time.

Google – Inactive Account Manager

  • To set everything up click your Inactive Account Manager page and click Start. (Make sure you log in)
  • Select when Google should consider your account inactive: 3, 6, 12 or 18 months (I recommend at least 6 months)
  • Confirm your mobile number, email, and recovery email make sure you double-check this part; it’s critical these are added and correct.
  • “Choose who to notify and what to share”
  • You can choose up to 10 people for Google to notify if your Google Account becomes inactive (I would at least add 2 contacts you trust implicitly if possible).
  • Scroll down and select whether you want your inactive Google account deleted after three months
